Friends celebrate 25th Anniversary at the opening of the renovated Jenkins Kitchen

Minister opens Jenkins Kitchen 25 May 2019

NSW Environment Minister, Matthew Kean asked the founders of Friends, our Past President and Jenkins descendants to join him in cutting the ribbon as he opened the restored Jenkins Kitchen in June.

The day also celebrated the 25 anniversary year of the formation of the Friends.

During festivities, members, visitors & NPWS staff listened to speeches and watched an Aboriginal smoking ceremony, which was a crowd favourite.

Friends obtained a grant of $100,000 from Heritage Near Me to restore the building. There was not enough funding for the interior so Friends volunteers renovated inside the building and stocked it with historical information and items to give it the ambience of early settlement times along Lane Cove River.
